Mir Arab madrasah

Hello everyone. We met with you again. 😊😊

Today is the third lesson in our practice. Together with our teacher Inobat Zoirovna, we will visit the Mir Arab madrasah today. This is also one of the famous historical monuments of Bukhara. during this lesson we learned a lot of information that we did not know.

According to historical data, It is located on an area of Kalyan square in Bukhara, and cannot be attributed to the hearsay among the most famous madrassa Islamic world.

The madrassa Mir-Arab was built in 1536 in honor of Sufi Abdullah Mir-Arab, the spiritual mentor of Bukhara Emir Ubaidullah Khan. This building is not only a university, but also a mausoleum for Mir-Arab, where at his feet buried Ubaidullah Khan, according to the custom of the time.

Madrassa Mir-Arab. Enjoy the incredible atmosphere from eastern tale

At the entrance to the complex, you'll find a special ritual pole mounted at the wall of the building. Austere, majestic madrassa with two large domes is a perfect ensemble together with a mosque and a minaret. At sunset, it pours gold, allowing any visitor to enjoy the incredibly beautiful atmosphere that resembles the eastern tale.

Despite the fact that now madrassa aims to provide spiritual education, the institution is open for tourists and amazing life of Muslim University can be seen at any time.

Students do not pay too much attention to the tourists, go about their business. However, visitors behave quietly, staring admiringly internal entrance arches in madrassa.

The Miri-Arab madrasah is one of the constructions on the well-known "Poi-Kolyan" Bukhara square. It emerged in the 16th century (about 1536) by the decree of Ubaidullah Khan emir in honor of the famous Islamic theologian Abdullah of Yemen. As Sayid Abdullah himself bequeathed, he was buried in this madrasah under one of the domes.

The madrasah was a prestigious educational institution at the time, one of the graduates was Ahmad Kadyrov, the first president of the Chechen Republic, as well as Ahmad Donish of Bukhara, the famous statesman and thinker, who left behind a rich and wonderful philosophical heritage. The teaching in the Miri-Arab madrassa lasted 9 years, during which both religious and secular subjects were studied. The size of the structure was quite large, it included 111 living rooms for students, as well as 2 large halls. Educational lectures and Friday services were held in one of them, and there were the tombs of Sheikh Sayyid Abdullah and Ubaidulla Khan emir in another.

Exhibitions representing the activities of the madrasah were also held.

The Madrassah has a decoration in the form of a mosaic, consisting of a white ceramic mass, that is, the kashin itself. And the image of the patterns on such ceramics made them very bright and slightly shiny, which added a special beauty to its appearance. Vegetable and geometric patterns prevail in the external decoration of the madrassah, and the domes are covered with blue tiles.

The Mir-Arab madrasah is included in the UNESCO World Heritage. Nowadays the madrasah is operational, and, it gathers many tourists and believing Muslims who come to weekly Friday prayer like many centuries ago.

That's the end of today's information and impressions. Today was a wonderful day. The weather is clear, not cold, and we learned what we didn't know.😃

See you in the next lesson.😊😊😊
